Environments
The sandbox and production run the same build with the same contract. In the sandbox, identity checks and payment rails are simulated, and the sandbox endpoints let you decide their outcomes.

Mismatched keys
A sandbox key on the production host, or the reverse, returns 401 key_environment_mismatch. Sandbox endpoints called with a production key return 403 sandbox_only.
Going live
Production keys are issued once your integration has passed the checks in testing in the sandbox and your commercial and compliance onboarding is complete. Nothing in your code changes except the base URL and the key.
